In 1989 when the 1.4 litre K16 series was first introduced to the public it was predicted to become an engine to surpass all its predecessors and it performed adequately until 1995 when it became known that vast numbers of these engines were failing. Subsequently the owners of the cars supplied with these engines became angry with both the reliability of the engines and the treatment they received from the company.

The book contains a history of the engines from the forming of the design team, its merits and downfalls together with the solutions to the most common failures described in simple and easy to understand terms together with a fully comprehensive guide to rebuilding failed engines.
